Yachana Gourmet and Wild Oats Join Forces to Educate Consumers About Rainforest Conservation and Offer Customers Free Trips in the Amazon Rainforest

Boulder, Colorado (March 8, 2005) –  In order to promote awareness about environmentally responsible consumerism, conservation issues, and Fair Trade, Yachana Gourmet is working with Wild Oats to raffle away free stays at Yachana Lodge- an award-winning ecotourism destination in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.

The promotion will be held in all 52 Wild Oats locations in the states of CA, OR, WA, AZ, NV, UT, NM, CO, KS, NE, OK, and MO. During the entire month of April, Wild Oats retail outlets in these states will place large displays of Yachana Jungle Chocolate  - Yachana Gourmet’s unique, all-natural Fair Trade chocolate product  - in its stores. The displays will contain information about Fair Trade, rainforest conservation, and sustainable development in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.

The promotion is intended to increase consumer awareness about the importance of Fair Trade and conservation. The displays will also contain a form that consumers can fill out to win one of the three free stays for two people being offered at Yachana Lodge, the recipient of Condé Nast Traveler magazine’s 2004 ecotourism award.

At the end of the month, three winners will be chosen and awarded free stays for themselves and a companion at Yachna Lodge. Yachana Lodge is a model for ecotourism projects worldwide.
